Project: Microferm
TW2E designs container, CHP-set and contol installation for Microferm
Specifications:
- Small digester of 120 m3
- Saving time by transporting the manure directly into the digester
- No co-products but using your own manure
- No supply and removal costs
- Very short occupation times of the manure in to the digester (8 – 12 days)
- 62 kWe bio gas Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
- Two(2) modules ready to be delivered
Benefits
- Generating your own electricity needs
- No co-products but using your own manure
- Low emission stables (virtually no ammonia and methane);
- Simple technology at a low investment;
- Demolition of pathogens and weed seeds;
- Improve functioning level manure / digestate;
- Short occupation times (8-12 days)
- Two modules ready to be delivered;
- Construction time approximately four (4) weeks.
The technology
Fermentation is a biological process that converts organic substance into methane gas. This bio gas can be converted in a gas engine into heat and ‘green’ power after cleaning it. The fermented manure (digestate) can be used as biological fertilizer on the agricultural land.
Together with our partner HoSt B.V. we have developed an installation that can be used in farms. This way farmers are able to process their own manure in combination with their own bio mass and with that they can produce renewable energy. The Microferm is applicable in agricultural companies with enough liquid manure production. This can be cattles, pig farms, and other types of farms.
The manure on the solid floor in the stable is collected by one or more automatic manure shoves. The manure shoves move the manure into a small manure well on the edge of the stable. From this well the manure is pumped into the Microferm. The pump turns on and off by the level meter in the well.
Heat and electricity
The produced bio gas is converted into renewable energy by the CHP. The generated electricity is primarily used by the farmer himself and by overproduction the electricity is going to the grid.
The heat that releases during the generation of the electricity in the CHP is partially used to heat the digester. Besides that there remains a considerable amount of heat to warm the farmer’s house, the farm buildings and the water.
The system
The Microferm contains a digester and a by TW2E designed and delivered containerized CHP and the control installation. Both are fully prefabricated and portable. This reduces the amount of work on site to a minimum and the system is offered at a relatively low price.
Simplicity
A major advantage of the Microferm is the simplicity of the installation. There are no complicated input systems required and the components are relatively small compared to a standard co-digester
